WHERE THE ROAD ENDS,

ADVENTURE BEGINS

WELCOME TO THE TURRET’S END STANN RANCH

Turret’s End Stann Ranch is surrounded on three sides by the White River National Forest, the largest National Forest in Colorado, at the doorstep of the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. The ranch is located just 45 minutes outside of Gypsum CO. Inside the White River National Forest lies nearly a quarter million acres of roadless wilderness, and due to the congressional Wilderness Act of 1964, access into the wilderness area is limited to “primitive” forms of transportation - horse and foot traffic only. With its ideal location, Turret’s End Stann Ranch is located right at the USFS Hilltop Trailhead, making for easy access into the wilderness area.

The 3,500 square foot log-construction lodge was built in 2001. In 2021, Ken and Lisa Stann purchased the property, and starting in the fall of 2022 and finishing late summer of 2023, the lodge went under a total renovation. This renovation is specifically geared to give adventure seekers 5-star comfort and modern amenities with the ability to walk straight out the door and into the wilderness.

Furnished with 4 bedrooms, a sleeping loft, 4.5 bathrooms, and a total of 8 beds, the lodge can comfortably accommodate up to 14 people. Three of the bedrooms include a private bathroom. The basement is specifically designed to keep adventure seekers’ gear neat, organized, fully charged, and dry. After a long day on the mountain, the basement is a great spot to hang out and enjoy a cold beverage.

On the south end of the property is the confluence of Turret Creek and Sweetwater Creek, where Turret Creek ends and becomes Sweetwater Creek. Thus, this is how Ken and Lisa came up with the name, Turret’s End Stann Ranch, for the 40-acre property. The center piece of the ranch is a quaint pond teaming with wild rainbow, brook, brown, and cutthroat trout. Just below the pond lies the horse pasture, barn, covered pack station, and staff bunkhouse.

The property and lodge is leased by LKS Outfitters (LKS). LKS owns and operates three of the most well known public land outfitting businesses in Colorado. Flat Tops Wilderness Guides (FTWG) is the division of LKS that uses the ranch for its summer and fall business, focusing on taking those looking for a true wilderness experience deep into the backcountry on various adventures, including fishing trips, horseback rides, pack trips, and hunting excursions. FTWG also uses the lodge to host hunters, anglers, and adventure seekers.

For guests, the ranch is located 3 hours from Denver International Airport, 45 minutes from Eagle County Regional Airport, 2.5 hours from Grand Junction Regional Airport, and 2 hours from Aspen Regional Airport.

Guests staying at Turret’s End Stann Ranch have a limitless list of activities/adventures on site and within a short drive to surrounding attractions and ski towns.
